Confirmation Class (8th and 9th Grade)

Confirmation class meets every other Sunday evening, 6-8pm, from September through May/June. The gathering includes a meal, provided once per semester by the family of a student.

Confirmation at St. Paul follows a two-year program with the “Here We Stand” curriculum. Teachers content for instruction and activities on Luther's Small Catechism, the Old Testament, the New Testament, and Lutheran Theology and Doctrine. We engage in activities and discussion which address how our faith as Christians informed by Lutheran theology informs our work and service to the world.

Some questions that may be explored in our classes are:

  • What's the relation between faith and science?
  • Why do we hold the Bible as an authority and how do we read it?
  • What is unique about being a Lutheran?
  • How can we live at peace and build relationships with other Christians and people of other faiths?

Generally, confirmation students at St. Paul are in grades 8 and 9 and are confirmed in the Spring of 9th grade.
