With a 142-year history and 1,400 employees, this social services organization serves over 20,000 people in 60 locations throughout New England. It assists children, youth and families; persons with developmental disabilities and deafness; persons who are economically disadvantaged; refugees, including unaccompanied refugee minors; and older adults.\u00a0 Formerly named Lutheran Social Services of New England, it is part of a<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lutheranservices.org\/AboutUs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Lutheran Services in America\">Lutheran Services in America<\/a>, one of the largest health care and human services networks in the country, touching the lives of 1 in 50 Americans every year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calumet.org\/about\/whatwedo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Camp Calumet\">Camp Calumet<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>on Lake Ossipee, New Hampshire is a summer camp and conference center in a beautiful outdoor setting with year round programming, much used by members of Saint Paul.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ghm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Global Health Ministries\">Global Health Ministries<\/a>\u00a0collects and distributes health kits, including midwife kits, produced by congregations such as St. Paul.\u00a0 We've been sending birth kits for ten years.<\/p>\n<p>Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, housed at nearby University Lutheran Church in Cambridge, is a place our members volunteer to serve meals and cover work shifts especially during Harvard\u2019s vacations when student workers are unavailable.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.housingcorparlington.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Housing Corporation of Arlington\">Housing Corporation of Arlington<\/a> provides low- and medium-income families with safe, affordable housing.\u00a0 St. Paul supports this organization both financially and through projects such as this year\u2019s spring cleanup work day.\u00a0 St. Paul members contribute weekly to the Arlington Food Pantry, now called Arlington Eats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.neseafarers.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"New England Seafarers Mission\">New England Seafarers Mission<\/a>\u00a0provides chaplains and other services to crews of ocean-going ships while they dock in Boston.\u00a0 St. Paul youth and adults volunteer their time to help provide phone banks, money wiring and other services important to the many seafarers who arrive in Boston.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.villagehelpforsouthsudan.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Village Help for South Sudan\">Village Help for South Sudan<\/a>: St. Paul has supported this organization in building and starting a school and health clinic in the Sudanese village of Wunlang.\u00a0 In 2001 Saint Paul was the center of the resettlement of 40 refugee children from Sudan.\u00a0 We continue to support the school in what is now war torn South Sudan.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.refugepoint.org\/\" title=\"Refuge Point\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Refuge Point<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>is a \"lifeline for forgotten refugees,\" and St. Paul is proud to have donated significantly to helping get this non-profit off the ground.<\/p>\n<p>St. Paul supports\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.serrv.org\/\" title=\"Fair Trade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fair Trade<\/a>, helping farmers and craftspeople in developing nations to receive fair prices for their goods.\u00a0 In addition to having held our first \u201cFair Trade Fair\u201d in 2009, providing a marketplace for such goods, we regularly help sell<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.equalexchange.coop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Equal Exchange\">Equal Exchange<\/a>\u00a0coffees, teas, and hot
