EDUCATION HOUR

EDUCATION HOUR AT ST. PAUL 9:30 – 10:15AM

At St. Paul we believe that continuous learning and faith formation are central parts of Christian life for people of all ages. These pages present the various classes available on a Sunday morning. For more information or to register, contact our CYF Director Sarah Carter at family@stpaularlington.org .

NURSERY

For our youngest children, our nursery is available during the Education Hour and also during worship services. We encourage children ages three and up to participate in Sunday School as they can. Our nursery is staffed by nurturing childcare providers who are trained in First Aid and certified in CPR.

PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN

We use GODLY PLAY! In this curriculum, we understand that children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The Godly Play approach helps them explore their faith through story, gain religious language and enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play. It is based on Montessori principles and developed using a spiral curriculum.

CHILDREN GRADES 1-2 AND 3-4

We use a two-year curriculum that encourages children to explore Bible stories in a hands-on, engaging way. Using the Sparkhouse curriculum, every fall we explore stories from the Old Testament, and then we shift to the New Testament starting in the winter. Each week, kids and their leaders gather together to explore their Bibles, enjoy fun activities, pray, grow in faith, and have a blast while doing it!

GRADES 5-6-7

We have a Sunday School class geared specifically for older kids. The curriculum encourages our youth to explore fundamental questions of our faith in a hands-on, age-appropriate, experiential way. Each week, kids and their leaders gather together to explore their Bibles, enjoy fun activities, pray, grow in faith, and begin developing their personal theology.

CONFIRMATION

Confirmation at St. Paul starts in eighth grade and follows a two-year program. The classes are typically held on Sunday mornings. It is taught by the Pastor, Vicar, and Director of Children, Youth, & Family Ministry. Students are confirmed in the Spring of ninth grade.

ADULT EDUCATION

The Adult Education and Faith Formation committee organizes a variety of adult-oriented growth and learning opportunities including a weekly Adult Forum. Forums are held during Sunday morning education hour and are led by the pastor, vicar, or guest leaders and cover a wide range of topics.
