IN OUR LIVES

Each of us has unique gifts and skills granted to us by the Holy Spirit.  God has called to each and every one of us to use our gifts for the glory of God and in service to our neighbors.  Thus, each of us have vocations from God.

Our vocations are diverse: among us are teachers, medical workers, carpenters, businesspeople, architects, engineers, librarians, lawyers, advocates and many, many others.  We are also parents, children and spouses.  We are citizens of our towns, states and nations.  God calls us to use our gifts for the care of our neighbors in all these roles.

On Reformation Sunday, we recognized this by each bringing into church a symbol of one or our vocations.  During the offertory, we laid these tokens at the foot of the altar symbolizing that what we do we do in service to our neighbors and to God’s creation.
